Loco #DL-42 brings the empty stock of the Ali-shan Express (the 1330 Chia-yi to Ali-shan) into the Alishan Railway Bay platform at Chia-yi TRA station from Pei-men sidings on Saturday 03 December 2005. The loco does not run round but propels the train throughout the journey, except at the zig-zag sections, of course. (24 sec) |

The Alishan express approaches Jiao-li-peng from the west on Saturday 3rd December 2005. The coaches are fully air-conditioned but this tends to get turned off on the journey up the mountain as the temperature and humidity drops with the higher altitudes. (24 sec) |

From the carriage window on Sunday 04 December 2005 - it is difficult to do justice for the beauty of the scenery with a camera from a moving train, but hopefully these clips from the downhill working between Shuei-she-liao and Jiao-li-peng will give a bit of a taste (16 sec) |

Alishan Shay #26 in steam on a test run from Chia-yi to Jhu-ci on the comparatively level section of the Alishan Railway before the climbing starts in earnest. This was filmed sometime in late 2004/early 2005 and starts with the loco running over the road crossing at Pei-men. This is a long clip with an 8 second lead in, so don't worry if it starts with a black screen. (6 min 41 sec) |
